This is my granddaughter. She was born at 6:16 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009. 7 pounds 7 ounces and 19.5 inches long. 10 finners and 10 piggies. She's a keeper.

Moving furniture

The "TV room" is always frigid in winter as it costs too much to heat, and Corbin has been bugging me to move the TV into the front room where the heater is. Today we did just that. We moved the TV and the futon into the living room and moved the treadmill into the TV room. I've got a love seat I need to do something with now. DI?
I have access to the fireplace now though. Maybe I should see if I can get it to hold a fire! That would be nice.
...except I just gave away all my firewood a couple of months ago.

Crap!
One of the boys is tender and I've been eating way too much chocolate as of late. Somebody make me stop!
I need to go to bed. I'm tired and really need the sleep. And church is at 9 in the morning and I need to get Corbin home before that.
Me and Hay are going to see Body Worlds 3 tomorrow. I know it's Sunday but that's the only time we could get it to happen.
I had my teddy bear turned over to me today.

I've had him for I don't know how long, but he's been in a box for the past 5 years. Didn't even realize I had been missing him until he showed up on my pillow this afternoon. I should probably be a little grateful. Probably, but it's so darn hard!

Friday night and severe discomfort...
One word: epididymitis.
Addi came over tonight. Just long enough to call her cousins and arrange for a sleepover at their place. And I'm cool with that. Takes a little bit of pressure off.
Corbin came over too, but he's skating with a friend up the road a bit. Skateboarding. In the friend's basement. Oooh! And I'm cool with that too.
Presently, chicken nuggets are in the oven and cranberry juice has being given a task. And an ice pack.
I need to find some virus protection software for my Hay.

Snowshoeing and a bull moose
If you go back to my January 01, 2008 blog, you'll read about the New Years and Numb Arses run my brothers and I did New Years morning. Well, we did it again. Actually, it was me, Brett, and Russell this year. Jerry is in Georgia.
Later that day, after minimal sleep, Mike and Donald showed up at my place to go snowshoeing. And so we did. And it was awesome! We hiked up the Bear Canyon trail to the Timpooneke Road on trail 179. We then hiked down the Timpooneke Road to trail 178 which hooks back into 179 which we followed back down to the Dell. Just before we hit the last set of switchbacks, a big bull moose came into view and we just sat and stared at it and it looked back, snorted, and continued to look. Finally, we gave up on the staring contest and cautiously finished our trek. What a way to end it though. I wish so bad I had taken my camera! Next time, for sure, I will.

Redemption?
Maybe.
I ran both Monday and Tuesday. No run today, but only because of the annual run down American Fork Canyon just after midnight. Plus I'm supposed to go snowshoeing tomorrow morning with Mike and Donald.
I'm not really sure I'm up for that--the midnight run.
Call me a pansy.
But it's cold!
Oh well.
If I run tonight, will I have redeemed myself?

What a pathetic end to the year...
At least where my running is concerned.
I last ran on Christmas morning--and only put in 4 1/2 miles.
I have no drive. I have no desire.
I'm pathetic.
I can feel myself atrophy. My arms, my core, my legs. It's all withering. (Not that I really had much to begin with...)
I just need to suck it up and get out and put in the miles. I need to.
But I don't want to.
I'm going to pack for a run tomorrow regardless of my attitude. Mind over mood, right? I know I'll feel better if I actually do it.
I will!
I wonder if I suffer from SAD?
Three days to turn this year around! If I run all three days, everything else in the world will work out, correct?
If I eat one more Hershey's Bell, I think I might puke. But if I eat them all now, there won't be any for me to eat tomorrow...
My dog won't drink out of his water bowl here in the house. And he'll eat very little food. As soon as I put him outside though, he chows down on the snow. I don't understand my dog.
I need a set of Torx keys. Maybe that's what I'll get myself for Christmas this year. Or maybe I should just worry about getting out and running tomorrow and Tuesday and Wednesday.
There's a scheduled run down AF Canyon for the Johnson Bros. just after midnight on New Years. Three of us did it for '08 and it looks as though three of us will do it for '09. What fun. I seem to recall my contacts freezing up...
Haley's car needs some work done on it before she heads back to Logan this weekend. I sure wish to heck that I had a garage to do all of that in. Grumble, grumble, grouse, and whine...
Hyperbole is the BEST thing ever!
I just ate another Hershey's Bell. Extra creamy solid milk chocolate... Mmmm!
Mike and Donald both want to go snowshoeing. I ought to drag them up to the Dell here in the next while before all the good snow is gone. I'll check with 'em tomorrow. Maybe Thursday would work for both of them.
Bed time.

I actually saw this!
Rollover accident...
The SUV, while rolling, flipped probably 10 to 15 feet in the air. Pieces of the vehicle were flying everywhere. Scary. I drove the rest of the way up to my brother's just sick to my stomach.

The fun never ends!
I am getting pretty good at fixing my car's ills though. Well, that's not entirely truthful.
I've really just been working on the one ailment for quite some time now...
However, each thing I've fixed thus far along has actually had problems, so I'm actually fixing smaller parts of a larger problem--or so it would seem.
I guess a crappy economy has had at least one positive result: it's made me do stuff under the hood of my car I don't think I really ever would have done before. I've replaced one sensor, unstuck one valve, and cleaned I don't know how much carbon out of various locations. Neat!
Tomorrow, bright and early (if I get myself to bed so I can get up with the alarm...) I'll replace the ECTS (engine coolant temperature sensor) and check the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. The ECTS on the car now is an older model that is cracked and needs to be replaced anyways. I'm not entirely sure of the connection between that and the high idle though... Anyone? It's a $10 fix. If it's the MAP sensor, I'm looking at $50. There's also a chance it could be the TPS (throttle position sensor), and that'll run me about $60.
Crimony! I'm supposed to be taking the kids up to Salt Lake tomorrow for the Christmas Carol Sing-a-long at the Energy Solutions Arena along with Cort and Randi. I've got to do the car thing first off, go to work, and then get home in time to head up north by 5:00. I don't know that I'm gonna get everything done I need to get done.
I bought a cake pan today. Triple chocolate brownies for my Addi!

I know...
I ran the Squaw Peak 50-miler in June of this year just so I could say I did it.
And I actually did do it--yay for me!
And when it was over I said I'd never do it again.
But yesterday I sent in my money with the registration form for the 2009 race.
So here's my tentative 2009 racing plan:

But yesterday I sent in my money with the registration form for the 2009 race.
So here's my tentative 2009 racing plan:
- Red Mountain 50K in March
- Ogden Marathon in May
- Squaw Peak in June
- Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay in June
- Top of Utah in September
- St. George in October
So much for another off year. I know, I know--I said that last year. And the year before. Idiot. Me. Yeah.
I wanted to run the Wahsatch Steeplechase too, but it's a June race and I just don't know that I'll be able to finagle it.
Son of a gun--just looking at that list makes me cringe!
