Silver Glance

Silver Glance Lake sits at 9,902 feet above sea level. You get to Silver Glance by driving up American Fork Canyon, taking the left fork up to Tibble Fork Reservoir and then taking the dirt road up to Silver Lake Flat (Reservoir). From there you find the Silver Lake trail head, hike the 2.2 miles to Silver Lake and then north along the spur (just east of the stream bed) approximately 1 mile to Silver Glance (no established trail to Silver Glance exists).

The trail to Silver Lake is a popular one and on most weekends you'll find it fairly crowded. Silver Lake is a pretty but heavily used area and the short but steep hike to Silver Glance is a welcome escape to solitude--and often isolation.

On my next hike up to Silver Glance, I intend to hike up to Red Baldy and get a view of the surroundings from there--I hear they're rather spectacular. Having said that, the views from Silver Glance really aren't anything to shake a stick at.

The Evil Treadmill and Me

I'll have had my treadmill for 5 years coming up here in July. I don't really know--is that a long time to have a treadmill that has only had one user?

I've been using it a lot since the first of the year--mainly because it started out really cold in January and then because it's just been easier to jump on it later in the evening.

It's a noisy beast and I'm starting to smell burnt rubber once in a while. I should probably take advantage of the service contract I have before it expires in July. UTS (Universal Technical Services) is the service contract company. Want to see some scary stuff? Google Universal Technical Services and look for crappy customer service links. They are aplenty. And then there are a few more.

Still, it's probably a good idea for me to at least try to get something out of the contract before it expires.

When I get a new treadmill, I think I'll buy a little higher up the food chain. Any suggestions? A Precor or a True treadmill would be very nice.

But I really dislike treadmill running. That's not true--entirely. I don't prefer treadmill running. But there are times when it's definitely a necessity. So, should I invest in a good treadmill or go with NordicTrack again?

$209.99

That's what you'll pay if you want to buy a bottle of Postum from Amazon.com.

I know the stuff has been discontinued for a couple of years now, but I'm just finishing off the last of mine. I don't have $210 to get another bottle.

Do I talk about my bike too much?

See the black frame loooking thing on the floor next to my bike? That's my new bike frame. I'm going to take most of the parts off the yellow bike and put them on the black frame. Corbin wants to take the parts off his bike and put them on my bike when I'm done. Fun.

Me, on my bike, at Mineral Basin

Well, almost. I'm at the base of Miller Hill.
